Device Controllers and Modes

Modified on Sat, 20 Sep at 4:03 PM

Your device's controller is the "brain" that manages your treatments. Understanding your specific controller type will help you get the most effective and safe treatments.

  1. ClearLink Controller
  2. DT Controller

ClearLink Controller (Advanced)

ClearLink is Phothera's most advanced controller system, featuring a touchscreen interface and three distinct operating modes.

Guided Mode (Recommended for Most Patients)

What it does:

  • Asks questions about your skin's response after each treatment
  • Automatically adjusts your next treatment based on your answers
  • Provides built-in safety checks and dose management
  • Tracks treatment history and missed sessions

How to use Guided Mode:

After unlocking your device:

  1. Treatment screen appears with your scheduled dose
  2. Device asks: "Were you in pain or red after your last treatment?"
  3. Choose your response:
    • "No, or < 24 Hrs" No symptoms or gone within 24 hours
    • "24 – 48 Hrs"  Symptoms lasted 24-48 hours
    • "> 48 Hrs" Symptoms lasted more than 48 hours
    • "Still red / pain." Currently experiencing symptoms
  4. Select treatment distance (0" or 9" depending on your device)
  5. Confirm treatment - device shows dose and estimated time
  6. Put on goggles and begin treatment

⚠️ Important: If you select "Still red/pain," the device will lock until 16 hours have elapsed. This prevents treating irritated skin.

Benefits of Guided Mode:

  • Prevents under-dosing and over-dosing
  • Compensates for missed treatments automatically
  • Adjusts for lamp aging and room temperature
  • Provides peace of mind for new users

DT Controller (Digital Timer)

The DT Controller is designed for simplicity and reliability, with a focus on time-based treatments.

Features:

  • Large back-lit LCD showing minutes: seconds (mm: ss)
  • Simple button interface
  • Reliable time-based control
  • Standby mode showing last treatment time

Basic Operation:

  1. Unlock device with "0007" (default code)
  2. Set treatment time using UP/DOWN arrows
  3. Press PLAY/PAUSE to start treatment
  4. Press PLAY/PAUSE to pause/resume
  5. Press CANCEL to stop treatment
  6. At any time, you can shift between positions by pushing the Back button
