Daavlin 4 Series with ClearLink Controller

1. Device Overview

The Daavlin 4 Series home phototherapy device uses the ClearLink™ Controller and supports three modes of operation: Guided, Dosimetric, and Timed. The controller records treatments and can limit exposures via FlexRx® under physician supervision.

2. Indications for Use

For treatment of diagnosed photoresponsive skin disorders (e.g., psoriasis, vitiligo, atopic dermatitis) under a physician’s direction. Usable from pediatric (with responsible adult) to geriatric populations.

3. Warnings & Safety

  • Prescription Use Only. Always follow physician instructions.
  • Wear UV‑blocking eyewear for the operator and anyone in view of the device; do not remove during treatment.
  • Protect untreated skin with SPF 30+ sunscreen as directed; avoid treating over active eruptions or burns.
  • For very long sessions, use ~50% duty cycle (e.g., 10 min on / 10 min off); allow surfaces to cool if uncomfortable.
  • Keep people and pets out of the treatment area; keep device dry; do not use with damaged cord/plug; device must be properly grounded.
  • DANGER – ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION: Overexposure can injure eyes/skin. Some medications/cosmetics increase photosensitivity; consult your physician.

4. Delivery, Site & Setup

  1. Inspect on delivery; report any damage within 24 hours.
  2. Site: Near a grounded outlet; away from water/traffic; protect from children.
  3. Assembly: Attach feet with thumb screws; verify they face correctly; tighten all screws. Insert the “D”‑shaped power plug; connect to grounded outlet.
  4. Lamp check: Verify prescribed lamp type (UVA, UVA‑1, NB‑UVB, BB‑UVB, Blue).

5. Positioning & Treatment Distance

  • 20‑lamp units: Treat at 0 in (on acrylic) or 9 in (23 cm). Select the distance on‑screen before starting.
  • 10‑lamp units: Treat from 9 in (23 cm) only.
  • Large areas: Stand 9 in from lamps (mark floor to help). Avoid standing closer to prevent streaking/burning.
  • Small areas (20‑lamp only): Place the area gently on the acrylic near center; avoid excess pressure.

6. Unlocking & Common Functions

  1. Tap the blank screen → Daavlin logo appears.
  2. Tap the logo → enter 7 → press Enter.
  • At treatment end, controller beeps and shows delivered dose & elapsed time.
  • If power is lost mid‑treatment, ClearLink remembers elapsed time and allows resuming after power is restored.

7. Operating – Guided Mode

  1. Unlock. Scheduled dose appears.
  2. Answer: “Were you in pain or red after your last treatment?” Choosing Still red/pain locks the device until one session is skipped.
  3. (20‑lamp only) Select 0 in or 9 in.
  4. Review confirmation screen (dose & estimated time). Put on goggles and position yourself.
  5. Press Enter to start (3‑second countdown). Use Repeat to expose another area before leaving the screen. Pause/Play as needed.

8. Operating – Dosimetric Mode

  1. Unlock → Treat Patient.
  2. (20‑lamp only) Choose 0 in or 9 in.
  3. Set prescribed dose (mJ for UVB, J for UVA as programmed). The integrating dosimeter auto‑adjusts time for lamp/temperature variations.
  4. Confirm dose & estimated time → goggles on → Enter to start. Use Repeat, Pause/Play as needed.

9. Operating – Timed Mode

  1. Unlock → Treat Patient.
  2. (20‑lamp only) Choose 0 in or 9 in.
  3. Enter time (mm:ss). Tip: use 1:00, not 0:60.
  4. Confirm time → goggles on → Enter to start. Use Repeat, Pause/Play as needed.

Need percentage increases? Use Daavlin’s Treatment Time Calculator to convert prior time + % increase to a new mm:ss value quickly.

10. FlexRx® Prescriptions

When enabled, remaining exposures show at wake. Refill when 5–10 remain.

  1. Wake controller → unlock.
  2. When prompted (or via Prescription), enter the refill code provided by your physician using the on‑screen arrows.
  3. Press Enter to upload. The controller displays exposures added.

11. Cleaning & Maintenance

Routine

  • Dust unit & lamps monthly; deep clean behind acrylic/reflectors annually.
  • Replace lamps approximately: UVB ~300 hrs; UVA/Blue ~500 hrs (environment dependent).

  • Low‑level: Monk™ wipes (per label) or 70% Isopropyl Alcohol with 3‑minute contact time.

12. Lamp Replacement

  1. Unplug device; remove feet; lift top cover.
  2. Remove clear plastic lamp clasps; press red socket button; lift lamp out with two hands.
  3. Insert new lamps (same brand as original) until an audible snap; replace all lamps as a set.
  4. Reassemble; reset lamp hours to 0 (contact support for steps).

13. Calibration & Accuracy (Guided/Dosimetric)

  • Calibrate annually or every 100 hours and when lamps change.
  • Integrating dosimeter accuracy target: ±5%.
  • 20‑lamp units have two output values on the certificate (0 in and 9 in).
