Daavlin UV Series ClearLink phototherapy cabinet

1. Device Overview

The Daavlin UV Series (ClearLink) is a full-body phototherapy cabinet for physician-directed treatment of photoresponsive skin disorders. Units may be configured with two controller types: Integrated Dosimetry (Dosi) for dose-based treatments with automatic time calculation, or Digital Timer (Time) for time-based treatments.

2. Indications for Use

Intended for treatment of conditions such as psoriasis, vitiligo, and atopic dermatitis (eczema) across skin types I–VI, under a physician’s supervision.

3. Warnings & Safety

  • Prescription use only. Follow your physician’s protocol.
  • Always wear UV-blocking goggles during treatment. Others should leave the room.
  • Never treat more than once per day or within 12 hours of a previous treatment.
  • If using PUVA (psoralens + UVA), protect eyes from sunlight for 24 hours after taking the drug.
  • Do not treat over burned/irritated skin; protect sensitive areas with SPF 30 sunscreen and lip balm.

4. Setup & Assembly

  1. Select a site: Dry, grounded outlet, no moisture; protect from children/pets. Position so your torso is centered between panels during use.
  2. Unpack & place: Carefully remove packaging, roll unit into position, remove shipping bars, and plug into the appropriate outlet per model labeling.
  3. Circuit breaker: Ensure the main breaker under the back-right frame is set to ON.
  4. Inspect lamps: Verify lamp type matches prescription (NBUVB, BBUVB, or UVA).

Electrical requirements vary by lamp count and controller. Always verify the rating label on your specific unit and installation manual.

5. Controllers (Dosi vs Time)

Integrated Dosimetry (Dosi)

  • Dose-based: Enter the prescribed dose (UVB in mJ; UVA in J). The controller measures lamp output and calculates time automatically.
  • Backup safety time: You also enter a backup time; treatment ends when the dose is reached or the backup time elapses, whichever occurs first.
  • When to re-check output: Periodically verify output and update backup time (e.g., if treatments end on backup time or after lamp changes).

Digital Timer (Time)

  • Time-based: Enter the prescribed treatment time directly (mm:ss). You may use a laminated chart or app to convert dose → time from the factory power output.
  • End-of-treatment: Timer beeps and displays time at completion.
  • Output checks: Measure with an independent meter at defined intervals and after lamp replacement to confirm accurate times.

6. Unlock Code & FlexRx™

  • Default security (both controllers): Enter code 0007 (press ▲ seven times) then ENTER to unlock.
  • FlexRx™ exposure-limit option: If enabled, the display shows remaining exposures while idle and “PASS” when refills are needed; enter the 4-digit refill code provided upon prescription refill.

7. Setting Up a Treatment

A. Integrated Dosimetry (Dosi)

  1. Enter Backup Time (safety limit). Use your current measured output with the chart/app to choose an appropriate backup time.
  2. Enter Dose (UVB in mJ; UVA in J), then press ENTER.
  3. Goggles on; center yourself in the cabinet; press ENTER to start. Lamps stop automatically when the dose is delivered or backup time expires.
  4. At end, the display alternates delivered dose and elapsed time. If backup time ends the session early, re-check/clean the sensor and update your backup time.

B. Digital Timer (Time)

  1. Determine time: Enter the prescribed time directly, or convert prescribed dose using the laminated chart/app from the factory power output.
  2. Enter Time (mm:ss), press ENTER to lock.
  3. Goggles on; center yourself; press ENTER to start. The timer beeps and flashes the time at completion.

General treatment rules (both): First session typically starts at a conservative dose/time; never treat more than once per day; if redness is significant, pause therapy and consult your physician.

8. Cleaning, Calibration & Lamp Care

  • Routine cleaning: Dust monthly; use non-abrasive disinfecting wipes on grids/lamps; avoid paper towels on reflectors.
  • Calibration / Output checks:
    • Dosi: Re-calibrate/verify output periodically (e.g., annually or when lamps change) and adjust backup time as needed.
    • Time: Measure power output with an independent meter after every ~100 hours and whenever lamps are replaced.
  • Lamp replacement: Replace all lamps as a set; do not mix old/new. After replacement, reset lamp hours via the controller service key sequence.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Unit won’t start: Confirm main breaker ON; check outlet and cord; ensure code is unlocked.
  • “PASS” shown (FlexRx): Exposures exhausted—enter refill code after physician authorizes a refill.
  • Sensor/Output errors (Dosi/Time Flex): Clean and center the UV sensor; verify lamp in front of sensor is on; if EExx errors persist, contact service.
  • Treatment ends early: Backup time hit (Dosi) or time too short—re-measure output and update backup/time accordingly.

Note: Electrical ratings, maintenance intervals, and controller functions vary by configuration. Always follow the labeling and the specific manual for your unit, and your physician’s instructions.
