Replacement Lamps

Understanding when and how to replace parts helps maintain your device's effectiveness and safety.

Lamp/Bulb Replacement Guidance

When to Replace Lamps:

  • Always refer to your User Manual for corresponding Lamp Part Numbers and the latest replacement information
  • UVB Lamps: Approximately every 300 hours of use
  • UVA Lamps: Approximately every 500 hours of use
Note: Lamp life varies depending on average treatment time and environmental conditions

Signs Your Lamps Need Replacement:

  • Decreased treatment effectiveness
  • Longer treatment times required
  • Visible damage to lamps (cracks, blackened ends)

Important Safety Note:

  • For devices that have been used for a while, ALL lamps must be replaced at the same time - never replace individual lamps in a machine that has been used. For NEW devices, when a lamp requires replacement (e.g., because it broke during shipping), replacing individual lamps is fine.
  • New lamps must match original lamp specifications (Lamp Type)
  • Prescription required for all lamp orders
  • Replacement of lamps is easy; it should start with HCP for the prescription. Contact Phothera after they issue the lamp replacement prescription, using our contact form (link below), before attempting lamp replacement
  • Some devices may require recalibration after lamp replacement, or a reduction in treatment of 50% if not recalibrated.
