Routine Maintenance

Cleaning and Disinfection

Keeping your phototherapy device clean is essential for safe and effective treatment. Follow these guidelines to maintain your device properly.

Daily Cleaning Protocols

Between Each Treatment:

  • Clean all patient contact surfaces between every treatment session
  • This includes the protective acrylic surfaces where your skin may come near or touch the device
  • Even when you're the only person using the device, cleaning between treatments helps maintain hygiene

For General Cleaning:

  • Use a clean, non-abrasive cloth (never use paper towels as they may scratch surfaces)
  • Use a mild cleaning solution such as Dawn Liquid Dishwashing Soap or equivalent
  • Gently wipe down the exterior of the device
  • Allow surfaces to air dry completely

Recommended Cleaning Supplies

Low-Level Disinfection (for regular use): Your device has been tested with these safe cleaning products:

  • Monk Brand Wipes: Follow the contact time instructions provided with the wipes
  • 70% Isopropyl Alcohol: Allow 3-minute contact time

Cleaning Process:

  1. Thoroughly wipe down all patient-contacting surfaces
  2. Allow the recommended contact time for your chosen cleaner
  3. Allow surfaces to air dry completely
  4. Inspect for any visible contaminants
  5. If contaminants remain, repeat the process until surfaces are completely clean

UV Goggles Care:

  • Clean lenses with a soft, dry cloth
  • Check for cracks - Replace immediately if damaged
  • Store safely - Protect from dropping or scratching
  • Replace regularly - Every 6-12 months with regular use

Daily Checks:

  • ✅ Verify all connections are secure (if applicable)

Storage and Safety:

Proper storage of your phototherapy device ensures its longevity and maintains safety standards.

Child Safety Considerations

If Children Are Present in Your Home:

  • Do not share your treatment codes with others

Troubleshooting Cleaning Issues:

Streaks or Residue:

  • Use distilled water for the final rinse
  • Microfiber cloth for streak-free drying
  • Check cleaning products - Some leave residue

Persistent Odors:

  • Increase ventilation during and after cleaning
  • Check for trapped moisture - Allow complete drying
  • Professional service may be needed for internal cleaning
