1. Device Overview

The Phothera 100 is a portable, handheld phototherapy device for home and travel use. It delivers safe UV light therapy for skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and vitiligo. Always use under the supervision of a physician.

2. Indications for Use

For the treatment of diagnosed skin disorders such as psoriasis, vitiligo, and atopic dermatitis (eczema) in pediatric through geriatric patients, under physician direction.

3. Warnings & Safety Precautions

  • Prescription Use Only: Use under physician supervision.
  • Always wear UV-blocking goggles during treatment.
  • Cover untreated skin areas with SPF 30+ sunscreen.
  • Never treat burned or irritated skin until fully healed.
  • Do not use if device or cord is damaged, or near water.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • DANGER – ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION: Overexposure can cause burns and serious eye injury.

4. Setup & Assembly

  1. Select a site: Dry area, near a suitable outlet, away from children and pets.
  2. Unpack: Remove device and accessories; inspect for shipping damage.
  3. Assembly: Plug in. Attach comb if treating the scalp (slide over wand).
  4. Gather all accessories: goggles, comb, treatment log sheet.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Before treatment: Put on goggles, apply sunscreen to untreated areas, remove wand from base.
  2. Set prescribed treatment time using the timer.
  3. Use comb to maintain 1.25 in (3.18 cm) distance, especially on the scalp.
  4. During treatment: Treat only affected areas. Keep other areas covered.
  5. After treatment: Record treatment, clean device, store safely.

6. Timer & Security Code

  • Default security code is 0007. Enter using arrow buttons, then press play/pause.
  • Set your treatment time (mm:ss) as prescribed.
  • Press play/pause to start. Device turns off when complete.
  • If "CXXX" appears, contact your physician for a refill code (for treatment-limited units).

7. Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Unplug before cleaning.
  • Wipe plastic and lamp surfaces with 70% isopropyl alcohol or diluted bleach on a soft cloth.
  • Disinfect goggles and comb between uses, especially for different users.
  • Replace lamp per manufacturer’s instructions or when output declines. Consult support for assistance.
  • Store device and accessories in a dry, safe place.

  • Device won’t turn on? Check power, outlet, and cord connection.
  • Lamp not lighting? Check code entry, timer setting, or lamp replacement.
  • Display shows “CXXX”? Needs prescription refill. Contact provider for a new code.
  • Device overheated? Allow at least 10 minutes cooldown per 10 minutes of use.
