The Phothera 4000XL & 4800MAX are full-body phototherapy cabinets designed for safe and effective treatment of psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo, and atopic dermatitis. These units offer options for Narrow Band UVB, UVA, or combination therapy, and can be configured with 40 or 48 lamps depending on the model. Both units support SmartTouch™ and ClearLink™ controls for clinical flexibility.
2. Indications for Use
The Phothera 4000XL/4800MAX is intended for the treatment of diagnosed skin disorders such as psoriasis, vitiligo, and atopic dermatitis (eczema) on all skin types (I – VI), under the direction of a licensed physician.
3. Warnings & Safety
- Prescription Use Only: For use under physician supervision.
- Always wear provided UV-blocking goggles during treatment.
- Cover untreated skin with SPF 30+ sunscreen.
- Do not use over skin eruptions without physician’s approval.
- Do not use device if cord is damaged, or near water.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- DANGER – ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION: Overexposure may cause burns, eye injury, premature aging, and increased risk of skin cancer. Always use protective eyewear and follow safety instructions.

5. Setup & Assembly
- Unit must be professionally installed and connected to the appropriate junction box.
- Position device away from moisture and ensure proper ventilation (fans and exhaust recommended).
- Power up by switching on the circuit breaker; wait for boot cycle to complete before use.
6. Operating Instructions
- For SmartTouch™, log in with your profile, add or select patient, verify settings, and begin treatment following on-screen prompts.
- For ClearLink™, unlock the device, set dose/time with arrows, confirm, put on goggles, and press Enter to start.
- Device automatically logs each treatment; print/export as needed.
7. Cleaning & Maintenance
- Dust and wipe device monthly using a non-abrasive cloth and mild cleaner (e.g., Dawn soap).
- Clean/disinfect internal and external handles and acrylic shields between each patient or use.
- Replace lamps approximately every 300 (UVB) to 500 (UVA) hours of use.
- Calibrate device every 100 hours or annually, or when lamps are changed.
8. Troubleshooting
- If device does not power on, check the circuit breaker and verify installation.
- If lamps do not turn on, ensure doors are fully closed and goggles are worn.
- For error beeps, consult the display or SmartTouch for specific error codes.
