1. Device Overview
ML24000 is a full-body UVA-1 cabinet using twenty-four 1000-W high-intensity discharge lamps (primary emission ~350–400 nm). Typical irradiance at 9" is 60–100 mW/cm² (±10%). Control options include the Flex digital timer or the Smart Touch™ PC-based controller. Use only under the direction of a licensed physician.
2. Indications for Use
- Flex Timer manual: Treatment of atopic dermatitis (eczema) on all skin types I–VI, per physician order.
- Smart Touch™ manual: Full-body phototherapy for diagnosed skin disorders (e.g., psoriasis, vitiligo, eczema) under physician direction.
Always follow the prescribing clinician’s diagnosis-specific protocol.
3. Warnings & Safety
- Prescription Use Only. Treatments must be supervised by trained personnel.
- Eye protection required: operators and patients must wear UV-blocking goggles/glasses; protect untreated skin with coverings or sunscreen.
- Cooldown rule: for treatments >20 min, turn off or idle the unit for at least 50% of treatment time before the next use.
- Environment: Ocular hazard distance 3 m; use in dry locations (IPX0). Not for flammable anesthetic environments.
- No modifications. If the unit malfunctions, stop use and contact service.
4. Site Requirements & Setup
- Electrical: 230 VAC, 3Φ, 60 Hz, 100 A or 400 VAC, 3Φ + N, 50 Hz, 100 A (check the device label). Requires protective earth and installation by a licensed electrician.
- Room: 15–30 °C; 10–95% RH (non-condensing); ensure ventilation and at least 1" clearance for cooling airflow.
- Position: place where power inlets/breakers remain accessible; protect from children/unintended users.
5. Operating Instructions
5A. Flex Timer Controller (Digital Timer)
Unlock → press any key → display shows CODE → press ▲ seven times to enter 0007 → press ENTER.
- Determine treatment time: Use the laminated UVA-1 Time Chart or Phototherapy Math app. Find your cabinet’s measured power (mW/cm²) and prescribed dose (J/cm²) to read the time equivalent (mm:ss).
- Set time: From 00:00, use ▲ to select digits and ◄ to shift left. Example 04:10 → ▲ to “4”, ◄, ▲ to “1”, ◄.
- Start: Press ENTER. Unit beeps at completion and flashes delivered time.
During/after treatment: Press END or ENTER to pause (HOLD); press ENTER to resume; double-press END to cancel. To repeat last dose, press END (clear) → press MODE+POWER → ENTER.
- Range & accuracy: 00:01–59:59; timer ±5%, sensor ±10%.
- Lamp hours check: with lamps off, press MODE+◄.
5B. Smart Touch™ Controller (PC-based)
- Log on: Select user → enter password. (Default first-time password is “
daavlin
”; you’ll be prompted to change it.) - Select patient: Treat Patient → search by PIN or name → open Treatment Setup.
- Verify dose: Review Previous, Current (proposed), and Next fields. Check Accept? and press Continue.
- Begin treatment: Press Begin Treatment or the yellow lamp button. Screen shows scheduled vs. given dose and elapsed time. On completion, print the summary if needed.
Adjustments & authority: Users may edit dose or move protocol position within safety limits. Out-of-range entries trigger warnings and may require a supervisor authorization (User/Password) to proceed. The system logs all treatments and supports individual/daily reports and database backup to USB.
- Safety timers: configurable minimum/maximum hours between treatments; idle-logout; calibration reminders.
- User roles: Admin, Supervisor, Operator — each with defined permissions.
6. Cleaning, Maintenance & Lamps
- Routine: Dust monthly. Fully clean internal reflectors/lamps/acrylic annually.
- Disinfection: Between uses, wipe patient-contact surfaces with approved wipes or 70% isopropyl alcohol (3-min contact). For different patients, follow a high-level disinfection protocol per facility policy.
- Lamps: Typical relamp at 500–800 hours. Measure output before/after; notify staff that times may change. Use only specified UVA-1 lamps and restore filter order.
- Reset lamp hours (Flex): Press MODE+◄+ENTER → ▲ → ENTER → MODE+◄ → END.
7. Troubleshooting
- Lamp does not ignite: Verify mains power and fuses; check connections. Rarely, a lamp can take up to 2 minutes to ignite on first starts. Replace defective lamp; if ignition unit suspected, contact service.
- Weak/bluish light or filters slipped: Power down immediately; do not operate; contact service.
- Deposits in lamp glass after shut-off: Normal metal-halide precipitation; disappears when warmed.
